Clarksville: A South Indiana man has been charged with murder after firefighters find a body of a woman who is beheaded and mutilated in his burning apartment, hours before the police allegedly found his part of his body missing in the house of the suspect at home.
Brian Williams was ordered to be held without a bond Wednesday during his initial hearing at the Clark County Circuit Court where an innocent petition was included in his name.
Men Clarksville was accused of murder, burning and violating violations in connection with the death of melody gambetty, 67.
The judge pointed to a public defender for Williams, 36, at the trial Wednesday, but a spokesman for the General Defender Office Clark County said Williams had not been assigned a lawyer.
The investigator said a crew responded Tuesday morning to the apartment at Gambetty apartment in a Clarksville apartment complex in and found his body on the floor.
He has been beheaded and other body parts have been removed.
The body parts were found at the end of Tuesday in the suitcase at Williams’s house, where the police also found their identity cards, credit cards and debit, according to court records, news and Tribune reported.
Police Chief Clarksville Mark Palmer said that in 32 years as a police officer, he “had never seen anything like this.” The autopsy will determine the official cause of Gambetty’s death, but the police said he seemed to have a stab wound.
Investigators believe that Gambetty was killed on Monday and Williams returned to his apartment on Tuesday and started the fire to cover the evidence.
Police said the supervision record showed Williams entered the apartment building on Monday afternoon before leaving for about three hours later with two suitcases placed in his car before driving.
Witnesses in the apartment complex reported that a young man, suspicious but polite would go to the door Monday trying to ask for “community service work,” according to court records.
Clarksville is located along the Ohio River in North Louisville, Kentucky.
