India’s first local car was found half buried at Hyd Scrapyard

Hyderabad: Pingle, India’s first traditional car developed by a Hyderabad engineer in the early 1950s, was found half buried in a house in the city.
Low-cost cars are suitable for the condition of the Indian road and mentioned as middle-class cars, first shown at Numish annual in Hyderabad about 70 years ago.

“I learned that two pingle cars lay in the trash.
The condition of the vehicle was very bad.
They were half buried on the ground with vegetative growth around.
I have shifted the car from the Broundard and hopes to take it soon restoration work,” said Intach City Convener P Anuradha Reddy , who also daughter-in-law PM Reddy, added that pingle is part of the Hyderabad car heritage.
He said the car was a star attraction in Hyderabad during the 1950s until the 1970s.
Pingle prototypes have showered Hyderabad roads and one of the cars is displayed on Numaish during the 1950s.
It is not clear how the car has walked to the seller of the memo.
Then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has examined the prototype and appreciates the technical design.
The thing is to take mass production of cars, but can’t get a central nod.
The car was designed in Praga Tools Corporation in Kavadiguda in the city.
Praga, PSU, was revealed about three decades ago.
