India’s Standing new; abstained on past Events Too, States MEA

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday defended its abstention through the voting in the UNHRC to get a settlement to stunt Gaza violence, stating its position isn’t new and it’s abstained on past events too.
Asked about the foreign minister composing to his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar about India abstaining through the voting at the United Nations Human Rights Council about the matter, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi reported an identical letter was composed to all states who abstained.
“Palestine wrote similar letters to most nations who abstained.
The situation we took isn’t a new place.
And we’ve abstained on past events.
I believe that clarifies our position very clearly and addresses those concerns,” the spokesperson explained during a press briefing.
Expressing”issue”, Palestine’s Foreign ministry Riad Malki at a correspondence to Jaishankar stated that India”missed a chance to join global community in the turning point, both critical and long overdue, and to the road to liability, justice and peace”.
Both Israel and Palestinian group Hamas agreed on a ceasefire which came into effect a month later days of intense fighting where approximately 230 people were murdered in Gaza along with 12 at Israel.
Last week, India and 13 other nations abstained from voting on the resolution at UNHRC to start an investigation into alleged offenses and offenses throughout the 11-day battle between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The resolution has been adopted as 24 states voted in favour of this opposed it in the conclusion of the all-day particular session of this 47-member UN body in its headquarters at Geneva.
The special session of this Council has been called to talk about the”grave human rights situation” from the territory including East Jerusalem.
India’s permanent representative to the UN at Geneva Indra Mani Pandey had stated in the particular session which New Delhi welcomes the diplomatic efforts of the worldwide community and regional nations that have led in attracting ceasefire between Israel and armed groups in Gaza.
“India calls on all parties to reveal intense restraint, diverging from activities that exacerbate anxieties and refrain from any further efforts to unilaterally alter the current status-quo, such as in East Jerusalem and its own neighbourhoods,” he explained.
Pandey said India was strongly convinced that conversation is still the only viable alternative that could effectively deal with the issues facing the area and its own people.
