New Delhi: Indigo has emerged as the largest tenth airlines globally and the largest in the Asia Pacific with the volume of seats, according to the UK-based air consulting company.
Low-cost carrier has 280 aircraft currently in the fleet that operates more than 1,400 flights every day.
In the pre-pandemic period, the airline has around 1,600 daily flights which are 400 to 450 are international.
At present it has around 1,400 daily flights that are almost 80, internationally, the CEO of Ronojoy Dutta airlines recently told TII.
OAG on Friday released a report on “important metrics in the world’s main airlines” comparing airline capacity in the summer of 2019 (March 31, 2019, until October 26, 2019) and this summer.
Indigo “operates in almost three quarters of summer 2019 in capacity requirements and is currently the largest airline of tenth globally.
Although most domestic airlines, 9% of Indigo ’19 summer capacity are internationally operated.
At present, international airline capacity Only operates at 37% of the summer level 2019, “said the report.
Indigo this summer, said OAG data, has a capacity of seats deployed by 3.7 Crore.
Other major airlines globally before Indigo in terms of seat capacity deployed include: southwest (10.8 crore), USA (9.6 Crore), Delta (8.8 Crore), South China (7.9 Crore), East China (7.2 Crore), United (7.2 6 Crore) and Air China (4.9 Crore).
In terms of seat capacity used, OAG data shows that Indigo operates 73% of the overall capacity of the seats this summer during the same period two years ago, or 2019 – the last pre-pandemic year.
Lion air recovery rate is another large (second ranked capacity, 60%); All nippon (ranked 3, 43%); Japan Airlines (ranked 4, 50%) and Qantas (ranked 5, 43%) much lower.
