Indore: For the fifth time in a row, Indore Madhya Pradesh has been ranked in the cleanest city of India with a central annual cleanliness survey.
In the results of Swachh Survekshan 2021 announced by the government on Saturday morning, Indore secured the top place by scoring a maximum value of 5,618.14 of 6,000.
The letter in Gujarat was ranked second with a value of 5,559.21.
The award was given by President of RAM Nath Kovind at a ceremony in New Delhi.
The celebration began in Indore as soon as the announcement of Indore became the cleanest city for the fifth time in a row.
The city stranded happily with its inhabitants, civil body workers and public representatives who rose to the streets, and celebrated Indore’s victory.
They even looked holding a broom and dancing to Beats at Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) drum, Rajwada, among other locations where the main celebration was held.
Commissioner IMC Pratibha Pal said that Indore’s victory as the world’s cleanest city for the fifth is the result of endless support from Indore citizens who contribute to all steps and efforts taken by the IMC as part of Survekshan.
“This is of course a pleasant moment for all of us because Indore has managed to defend the cleanest city title for the fifth time.
We expect support and cooperation in the future too,” Commissioner told Toi.
In addition to winning the title of the cleanest city, Indore also won the ‘Safai Mitra Challenge’ award for exemplary work in ensuring a safe work environment for sanitation and drainage workers involved in cleaning the sewer and GOT.
Swachh Survekshan 2021 was held earlier this year at a record 28 days with participation from around 4,230 cities in the country.
