Udhagamandalam: Indoserve, the peak of the industrial cooperative tea factory in Nilgiris, has become the first cooperative of India to obtain Fairtrade certification from Flocert in Germany.
CEO CEO Supriya Sahu received the Certificate of MK Stalin’s Minister on Friday.
Fairtrade certification of internationally recognized product certification systems where social, economic and production environments are certified through strict processes.
Headquartered in Bonn, Germany, Fairtrade International operates in 72 countries.
The owner is the largest tea cooperative federation in India working with more than 30,000 small tea farmers in nilgiris.
It has 16 Indco tea factories as members.
This produces around 14 million kilograms of tea every year and contributes greatly to the nilgiris economy.
“In the past year, we work on 15 policies, including water ecosystems and safety standards, among others to qualify for international certification.
Indonesians ensure ethical compliance in tea manufacturing,” said Sahu to Ti.
“In general, government organizations do not see growth opportunities.
We did solve the myth and become equal to private professionals.
We also work very closely with small tea farmers to create awareness about the use of pesticides and fertilizers that are safe to move towards cultivation mode Organic.
“Indic disappeared successfully completing a supply of around 4,200 tons of ooty tea to a ration store in Tamil Nadu, achieving a task in a count of 35 days as part of the Government Special Covid Help Package, added Sahu.
