Chandrapur: About 500 contract workers from Chandrapur Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Agitating since 235 days seeking their delayed salaries and minimum wages for their work has a big victory after the Industrial Court decided to benefit them and still appoint a new contractor in medical colleges.
“The Industrial Court has directed the GMC administration to deposit delayed salaries from all contract workers in a month and recovery of all regular workers,” said the leader of the Pappu Agitation aka Pradeep Deshmukh.

Nearly 500 contract workers have launched agitation sitting titled ‘Dera Andolan’ before the Collectorate District since February 8 under Jan Vikas’s banner Kamgar Sangh demanded a delayed seven-month salary and minimum wage to their work.
The problem remains unresolved even after several months of agitation.

“Finally on Friday night, the Industrial Court issued a status quo in the case and direction of depositing a delayed salary with the court and recovery of workers,” Dishmukh said.
Separating the misery of the agitators, Deshmukh told that three agitators, Pradeep Khadse, his wife and Sangita Patil died during agitation for eight months after depression and mental tension.
“Some of them lost their close relatives to Covid because of lack of money for their care.
Without salary since the last 16 months, many lose their strength connections and even harassed by their landlords.
