Industrial units in Gujarat vowed to be green

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Friday expressed displeasure with the industry to ignore the instructions issued by him in 1995 to curb industrial pollution in the city.
“What did you do after the 1995 assessment? What steps did you take in twenty-six years?” The judges asked the problem was also related to the release of stps wastewater.
Fishing drainage connections of more than 400 units including several main textile units, and closure resulted in their lawyers to encourage permission to commencement of temporary production and immediately.
The lawyers quote financial concerns.
In addition to textile units, a large number of screen printers from the Danilimsa-Behrampura area also raised concerns over the production of traffic jams and asked the court to continue work.
The screen printer surrenders that they have assigned their own waste processing plant and that their drainage network is used by locals to release domestic wastewater.
All lawyers insist on the permit to continue production on the basis of ETP (waste treatment plants) function in their optimal capacity and on appointments to comply with all green norms.
“When nothing can be reached in the last 26 years, you expect us to believe that everything will be fine in twelve months and we have to allow you to work?” The court said.
In 1994-95, HC had issued a lot of direction to reduce pollution in the city.
Judges commented more, “You all desperately Ahmedabad Mega Clean Association, which manages a 27km pipe carrying the effluent trade treated into the river, has promised to complete its report on illegal connections and the possibility of accommodating the Litigan Textile Unit in a week.
So the High Court posted further hearing on January 28.
