Infant mortality rates lower than men in Raj

Jaipur: For the first time, the mortality rate of a baby woman (IMR) has dropped under the IMR of men in the state.
The data recently released from the Office of the Sample Registration System (SRS) Registrar General India showed for every 1,000 baby boys born, 36 died before one year old, while it was 35 for women.
Data is based on the figures of 2019.
From 2009 to 2019, the death of female infants has fallen sharply in the state.
Of the 61 deaths per thousand live births in 2009, it has now dropped to 35 in 2019, a decrease in 26 deaths per thousand live births in 10 years.
Compared to baby girl mortality, the death of a baby boy has decreased by 22 deaths per thousand live births in the same period.
Of the 58 deaths per thousand live births in 2009, it has now diminished into 36 deaths.
“This happened for the first time when IMR women had less than their male colleagues,” said a senior health department official.
The official added that it happened because the state government promoted the Save Girl Child campaign by introducing a girl-friendly scheme like Rajshree.
Also, free drugs and free diagnostic test schemes encourage people to bring their daughter hospitals for care without thinking about expenses.
This is a great success for the health department official from the auxiliary nurse midwife to the senior level that has encouraged people to drop the IMR.
In urban areas, the 24-year-old IMR woman in rural areas is 38, indicating that the state government must carry out a lot of work in reducing the gap between rural areas and urban areas for saving girls.
IMR men in the city are 26 deaths per thousand live births compared to 39 in rural areas.
