New Delhi: India is likely to cross the peak witnessed during the second wave of Covid-19 but fully prepared with infrastructure and services twice as much to overcome the increase, the government’s source said even when everyday case increased more than 28 times the last 14 days.
India has recorded a 4.40 lakh case everyday on May 7, at the height of the second wave.
On Sundays, everyday cases increased to almost 1.8 lakh, taking active caseload to around 7.3 lakh.
“The current global trajectory of Covid’s surge shows that India is bound to cross the previous peak of 4.4 lakh everyday cases that are beaten during the second wave.
But there is no reason to panic because we are ready,” said an official.
Read the Wearomron Wave Peak immediately, but maybe it’s also fast: slave health experts feel that even though Covid-19 cases can peak in India soon, the current waves are driven by the omicron variant of the virus can be at all.
“The government’s preparation this time was two to three times higher than what had happened during the second surge in 2021,” the official said.
Officials are also maintained that many modeling studies have been carried out in India to predict the peaks and evidence of South Africa shows that cases that are powered by omicron up with alarming speed but also tend to fall at the same speed.
Underlining that most cases are asymptomatic and lightweight, officials say the expansion of vaccination coverage has helped keep inpatient stay low.
“The infection in the current wave seems light,” the official said.
Data of the Ministry of Health shows the production capacity of Indian medical oxygen has increased by 19,236 metric tons per day from around 9,500 metric tons a day during the peak of the second surge.
“We don’t know whether we will even need a lot of medical oxygen with Omicron because it is a top respiratory tract infection,” said a senior official.
