PANAJI: With the increasing number of people who choose ordinary steam inhalation to prevent coronavirus, incident burns also increase, especially among children.
The Plastic Surgery and Burns GMC have reported an increase in pediatric patients men who suffered burns during inhalation.
The head of the department, Dr.
Yuri Amborcar, said the change was considered because male burn patients earlier than female patients with similar conditions.
“During the past year, we saw more men in the pediatric category that had burns caused by unintentionally hot water spills in the body while inhaling steam,” he said.
While such examples are also seen in the population of adults, combat cases are higher in the pediatric category and patients mostly under five years.
“Inhalation of steam for children is done well when they have coughing and colds, or as a precautionary measure when family members have Covid-19,” he said.
Steam Inhalation is proven to relieve chest congestion, but the jury is still out whether it is an effective drug against Covid-19.
Amborcar said the only explanation for more cases of pediatric men with complaints of injury caused during steam inhalation could be a boy in general more agile, and thus, more susceptible to accidents.
He, however, said it was difficult to say if children who finally suffered burns during the steam inhalation did it without parental supervision.
Every year, the Plastic Surgery and Burns GMC sees 150-180 cases of grilled, and patients consist of adults, children and some factory-related accidents.
Since the plague of Pandemi Covid-19 – Starting April 2020 to March 2021 – has recorded 41 cases of men and 25 women in the pediatric age group.
“Increased cases of pediatric men are reflected in the case of male as a whole Goa is the opposite of the high volume of men’s pediatric cases.
Fortunately, there are no deaths, and children recover in 10-15 days.
