Margao / Panaji: A patient and members of the Multi-Task Staff (MTs) were injured after a portion of the fake ceiling of the Covid ward at the South Goa District Hospital fell down on Saturday night.
The patient, a 30-year-old woman who underwent treatment for Covid-19, was recently taken from oxygen and stable support, a hospital source said.
The fake ceiling hit the patient’s hand when it collapsed, because he suffered a blunt impact.
The injuries suffered by MTs workers cannot be immediately confirmed, even though the source said he had a laceration on his elbow.
Some other patients at Ward Covid have fate runaway, because the source said that the portion gave the way stretched in four ward beds.
After the incident, all patients were shifted from the booth.
“Fortunately, the ward was not full.
The entire fake ceiling panel includes four beds falling,” relatives of a patient told TII.
An elderly patient was taken for scanning and not on the bed at that time had a lucky escape, because he would not be able to avoid the panel that hit the patient’s bed, the word relative to Ti.
All patients from the Covid ward then shift to a woman’s ward located downstairs.
South Goa District Hospital was assigned in May 2020 – almost 12 years after the foundation stone was placed – with 26 OPDs to be operational in the first phase.
In September 2020, the hospital was converted to Covid Hospital, initially as a 250-bed facility.
The hospital sees its resources – men, materials, beds, and linens – stretches out of bounds, with increased capacity up to 500 beds during the second wave peak in April 2021.
