Instagram, a photo sharing application that is owned by Facebook, is said to be testing new features that will allow users to mark other users as their favorites.
This was revealed by the developer Alessandro Paluzzi on Twitter, which also posted a screenshot to show how this function would appear.
Paluzzi also said that posts from those marked as favorites will appear higher in feed – thus provide options to users to adjust their feed.

Earlier this year, the Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri in a blog post has answered some of the most submitted questions about the platform, its algorithm and how to assess posting in bait.
How Instagram ranks feed and story when it comes to feeding and story, Mosseri says that this includes “all new posts distributed by the people you follow.” After this, the application takes all information – called a signal – to get an algorithm.
The most important signal in all feed and story is how many people like posts, when posted, length of content, location and more.
Then including information about people posted like how many times people interact with that person in the past few weeks.
It also considers user activity such as how many posts they like and history interact with someone.
Especially for feed, five Instagram interactions see the closest is how much the user might spend a few seconds on the post, comment on it, like it, save, and tap on profile photos.
“The more likely you take action, and the heavier we weigh it, the higher you will see the post.
We add and remove signals and predictions over time, work to be better in gliding what you are interested in,” added Mosseri .
