Coimbatore: In light of the recent burglaries in three Tasmac sockets, the town authorities have taught Tasmac police to ramp up safety and set up CCTV cameras in most sockets.
Even a seven-member gang had decamped with 1,500 liquor bottles worth Rs 1.

The Peelamedu authorities detained three individuals in connection with the situation on Saturday.
They’re on the watch for four people.
“The socket is at an isolated place and there wasn’t any CCTV camera.
We’d taught the store supervisor to set up cameras a couple of months back,” a police officer said.
Deputy commissioner of authorities E Uma stated that 30 percent of Tasmac stores lack CCTV centre.
“We’ve advised Tasmac government to set up cameras, which could help us identify offenders.
We also have suggested the officials to reinforce security systems in all sockets.
Police employees at nighttime patrol will go to the stores frequently,” she explained.
Two folks broke open Tasmac socket 1521 around Variety Hall Road on May 23 to sneak 430 brandy and whisky bottles and 23 beer bottles worth Rs 90,000.
They offered the bottles residents of neighboring CMCH Colony.
There were not any CCTV cameras in the store.
Police gathered footage from local stores and arrested two youths.
On April 26, miscreants fell into Tasmac store 1725 around Lawley Road — Marudhamalai Road intersection to sneak Rs 10.
