Installment facilities for SRA BLDRS to pay premiums

Mumbai: More than a year after the builder of executing projects under BMC, MHADA and other planning authorities were allowed to pay premiums by installments, the authorities of slum rehabilitation (SRA) on Monday issued a circular against the developer.
The Minister of Development of Urban State (UD) Eknath Shinde has agreed this step in March this year after BJP threatens to protest if the file is not approved.
However, SRA issued a round on Monday.
According to the round signed by M v Waghikar, a financial controller in SRA, the builder can now pay premiums to SRA in five installments.
One installment of 10% and four from 22.5% respectively.
BJP has hit the Government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) because it did not expand the installment facility to SRA developers, and threatened to launch a protest sitting outside the Niral Building in Nariman Point, where the main decision of the UD Department was taken, if the benefits were not given to the SRA developer.
BJP Mla Mihir Kotecha, who is the BJP Treasurer of the State, has accused that the file (to start installment facilities for SRA Builders) trapped in the Shinde office for three months.
“SRA finally woke up and took out round.
It’s already one year late.
We have seen the importance of having a home with a toilet during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The UD department must make decisions that help eliminate slums, and not only help top builders that make housing luxury for Rich people, “Kotecha said.
SRA officials said they were waiting for instructions from the UD Department on whether the rules regarding premium collection in installments would apply to SRA as well.
“We issued a round after UD clarified that SRA could provide the same facilities as BMC,” an official said.
