International Youth Day 2021 was observed on Thursday, August 12.
International Youth Day is a day of consciousness appointed by the United Nations to draw attention to a series of cultural and legal problems around youth.
The first international youth day was observed on August 12, 2000.
It was based on recommendations made by the World Conference of the Minister who was responsible for young people in Lisbon to the UN General Assembly.
International Youth Day is celebrated through various conscious campaigns, community concerts, and events to pay attention to socio-economic and socio-political problems that young people have in every nation.
International Youth Day Theme 2021

The theme of the 2021 International Youth Day is, “Transformation of the Food System: Youth Innovation for Human Health and Planet”, with the aim of highlighting that the success of the global effort will not be achieved without meaningful young participation.
This year, international youth day will be held with villages in partnership with UN food and agricultural organizations and major groups for children and adolescents.
The United Nations also held a webinar on August 12.
This event will explore the role that you can play by young people to achieve a fairer and sustainable food system, build recommendations from the ECOSOC 2021 youth forum.
Through unique dialogue among young people working in these spaces and stakeholders from various layers of society, the webinar will promote innovation, knowledge exchange, and the involvement of youth by continuing the momentum to the UN food system summit in September.
Webinars are arranged around different roundtables, designed to increase the interaction between the participants.
Different segments will focus on certain topics included in the thorough theme to change the food system, including: Planet Health, Nutrition, Health, Education, Innovation, and Indigenous Youth.
