Hyderabad: Water Conservationist, Magsaysay and 2015 Water Gift Stockholm Laureate Rajendra Singh on Friday supports the decision of the United States to intervene in the water war between Telangana and AP.
He told TII that central intervention was always needed in these matters.
“The constitution also says that all these disputes must be resolved through a legal network,” he said.
“Our constitution asks parliament to intervene when disputes have survived among countries.” He also welcomed the center to move that the court had jurisdiction to lead and resolve disputes between countries.
“Intervention through the court is very justified,” said Rajendra, known as the ‘Water Man of India’, said.
He said the court was part of the justice and introduced intervention through the court justified.
Senior Adviser and First Advocate of the State of Telangana, K Ramakrishna Reddy said the Sungai Krishna and Godavari Water Management Court was created in accordance with Section 84 and 85 of the Reorganization Law Andhra Pradesh for the purpose of resolving a dispute between the two states of Telangana and AP.
He said asking for this court to lead water distribution and power plants not wrong.
On the Center’s decision to entrust river water problems, irrigation projects and power plants to this court, Reddy said it was a legal mandate.
“The AP Reorganization Law is not ordinary legislation.
It was made in harmony with articles 2 and 3 constitutions.
The part 84 and 85 asked the two countries to resolve disputes through the center and court,” he said.
He further said: “Notifications issued by the central government in this regard valid.
The senior advisor said the center had the power to do so was based on article 262 of the Constitution.
