Chennai: Anna University Vice-Chanselir Search Committee, led by Jawaharlal Nehru University Deputy Komar Jagadish Kumar, will interview the elected candidates on August 9, including five professors from Anna University and two of IIT Madras, elected from 160 – Candidates from all countries Apply for a post, said source.
Candidates tend to be asked to present their vision for the University Premier Universities, including their plans to bring funds and increase research output, during interviews.
After the interview, the search panel would recommend three names to the Governor of Banwarilal Purohit.
Other members in the panel were retired IAS Officer Sheela Rani Chunkath and former Deputy Chancellor of Madras University S P Thyagarajan.
Panels invite applications from candidates with 20 years of teaching experience at universities, graduate and research institutions and a minimum of 10 years of experience as a professor in a university system.
The application window ends on June 30.
The Deputy Chancellor of Anna M Surappa University completed its three-year term on April 11 and the university was run by the Gap Committee of three members over the past three months.

E Balagurusamy, former representative of Chancellor of Anna University, proposed eight steps to the Governor to make the VC selection process more transparent.
He suggested that former VCS be included in the search panel, Blitz Publicity to attract matching maximum candidates, bio-data publications from all applicants, disqualified candidates who try to influence, obtain a cleaning certificate from DVAC for candidates and certificates of integrity selected from the former employer.
He also suggested that the list of recommended candidates was placed in the public domain for at least one week before the appointment order was issued.
