Int’l Economy Fares Touch Biz Class, Force Travel Plan Change

Kolkata: What business class rates up to four months ago are now an economic class rates on international flights, forcing a lot of kolkatan, especially students living in the United States and England, to discard the plan to travel home during Christmas – just a year break.
The airline now ordered one-way economic class rates of Rs 1.8 lakh to 2.2 lakh to the US destination and returned the tariff of Rs 2.8 lakh to 3.2 lakh.
As of July, the cost of returning in the economy class was Rs 68,000-RS78,000.
Rates between Kolkata and Britain have also passed the roof.
While the round trip on the economy class used to cost Rs 49,000-Rs 55,000 in Air India and British Airways, one-way fare in the economy class around Rs 1.6 lakh and returned to Rs 2.5 lakh rs in mid-December, when Christmas holiday kicks.
Oishika Chowdhury, a scholar student at New York University, hopes to fly back to his parents in Hindustan Park and spend his birthday with them.
But he wasn’t so sure anymore, because it costs three times ordinary costs.
“It’s not just me.
Some of my friends aren’t sure if they have to spend so much money on the way home and come back.
Even though many parents will not complaints about spending extra quantities, we don’t think this is done,” Oishika said.
Mahuya Paul, who taught at the University of South Florida and will travel to Kolkata this December with his husband and daughter, must pay Rs 7 lakh for the trip.
“The post-covid trip becomes very expensive, especially for the student community,” he said.
Arup Basu, an Indian citizen who lives in Los Angeles but has lived in Hindustan’s house for the past few months, needs to fly back on some urgent business but delay because of astronomical tariffs.
“There is no point in paying for business class rates to travel and then have to pay as much as possible to return.
I will wait until February, when the rate is expected to dip,” he said.
There are also many who have booked early and got tickets at regular rates to travel to India through Dubai at Emirates Airlines, which are now told that they have to take full refunds or pay differential rates, as they have been booked in the holder canceled.
In this final stage, they have no choice but for other 1 lakh rs cough per ticket or cancel their travel plans.
The problem occurred because Emirates had opened a booking on several flights from November than both of which currently operate, anticipating India and the UAE will allow normal international flights to continue or approve bubble flights.
But nothing happened, led to a large scale cancellation that had left travelers in soup.
“Most of these passengers have booked the ticket itself.
If they order through a travel agent, they will be advised to fly in the days when the flight has been operating, rather than protecting their bets on what can happen in the future,” Manav travel agent said Soni.
While the opening of our sky after nearly two years has caused an explosion of travel demand and pushed the tariff because of the supply of leaning, the situation was no better when it comes to Europe or even Asia.
Rates to Dubai, goals that travel frequently for not only tourists and entrepreneurs but blue collar workers too, also surged, with one-way emirate fees in the economy class for November 17 for Rs 70,000.
Usually, the return trip to Dubai costs between Rs 27,000-Rs 35,000.
Even Dubai fly, carrying low-cost carrier, filling Rs 50,000-rs 55,000 for class Y tickets to the usual tariff of Rs 19,000-RS 21,000.
Fafre in Indigo is around Rs 50,000.
The eye-popper is a ticket that regulates Joydeep Mukherjee’s travel agent for a client, who travels from Kolkata to Dhaka in October 2.
The rate on a half-hour flight on the no-frills operator is Rs 72,000.
