Mohali: organized modules from international beer and racquets smuggling liquor were penetrated here on Thursday in the operation of the Ministry of Excise and Police Mohali.
It leads to seizures of 201 imported liquor cartons and 1,400 imported beers and two arrests are accused.
During the investigation, the defendant revealed that they were used to import liquor and beer, including a senior brand of Boke and Moller, from their colleagues in Spain and Romania to distribute further in Punjab, DeLangan, Telangana, and Karnataka.
Keep an eye on the operation called Red Rose, Commissioner of Punjab Excise Rajat Agarwal said the government did not have tolerance to smuggle liquor or other illegal activities.
He said, “The whole chain, from the main supplier to the recipient of the Selundup liquor, is being examined.
And if there is a liquor contractor involved in this racket, the tight action will begin.
Punjab police and the Excise Ministry working in close coordination for this operation.” The commissioner of the shared excise, Punjab, Naresh Dubey said they received confidential information that some people were involved in smuggling of bottle brands (BIO) and imported liquor in Punjab by avoiding customs and levies.
The joint team was formed under the DSP Bikramjeet Brar and excise, enforcement, Sarupinder Singh and they began to gather information and follow the suspect.
They learned that the defendant smuggled imported brands and beer beer to Punjab from Delhi, Noida and other countries and save them in their illegal warehouse in Lalru and Khizrabad in Mohali Regency.
On Wednesday night, the team got a tip-off that gang members came to Zirakpur with the consignment of illegal liquor in their Mahindra pick-up vehicle, which was escorted by Vishavjeet Singh at Mahindra Scorpio.
Near Zirakpur, a Naka was founded and the two vehicles were stopped and both were accused of Nabbed.
When checking pick-up vehicles, 201 cases of liquor imports were found and the defendant could not produce a valid document for it.
Further disclosure of the defendant caused the recovery of 1,400 cases of liquor brands smuggled, such as senior boke and mollers, which were stored in their hiding and Godown in Lalru and Khizrabad.
The defendant will be produced in court and taken in police disposal.
They have been ordered under Section 61-1-14 of Curude Act and Sections 420, 468, and 120-B from the IPC at the Zirakpur police station.
