Chennai: When the journey continues, international passenger traffic has recorded a stable surge at Chennai Airport.
The airport handled 83,000 passengers in August such as against 53,000 passengers in July.
It is ranked third after Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Bengaluru handles 80,000 international passengers in August, according to statistics from the Indian Airport Authority (AAI).
The source said that the numbers for Chennai were projected to touch close to Lakh for September and October.
In the days of pre-covid, the airport is used to handle around 5lakh international passengers.
Although international flights scheduled have not been continued, there is a large demand from people traveling for education, business, and vacation.
Aai and Airlines officials said that Pent Up demand for trips would help the airport touched the pre-covid level level at the end of the year if scheduled flights were continued in November.
