Invite or prevent the 3rd wave, it’s up to people: Uddhav

Mumbai: Head of Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that it was up to people to prevent or invite ‘third wave’ pandemic.
Inaugurating a virtual medical conference, Thackeray said the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in the state would be based on the availability of oxygen.
He claimed Maharashtra was the only state that had increased his health infrastructure to overcome pandemics “as did other countries.” “We only failed oxygen production, which took a little longer.
At present, our daily oxygen production is around 1,200 to 1,300 metric tons used for industrial and medical purposes.
For industrial purposes, oxygen is needed by the steel, glass and pharmaceutical sector.

During the second wave of Covid-19, the state requires 1,700 to 1,800 metric tons of oxygen every day, which must be obtained from other countries, CM said.

We may not get enough oxygen from other states if the number of cases has an increase,” he said.
The minister’s chairman said that even though the second wave of Covid-19 was “controlled”, there was a slight increase in the number of everyday cases in the last few days.
