Beleagavi: The Prison Department and Correction Service are considering preparing retail fuel stations at five prisons in North Karnataka.
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has submitted its proposal, copies available with TOI, to the prison department.
Submission appeared behind several meetings that were borne for accidental issue, and after the survey was conducted to estimate the possible income that could be produced from the site where the fuel station was proposed to be built.
Binay Kumar, Head of the Sales Division of Beleagavi for IOCL, has submitted a proposal to Deputy Inspector General (prison), Bataghiaavi to consider the possibility of preparing retail fuel stations at the prison location that generates good income.
An official in a Hindalga prison in Bataghiavi said that the department felt the idea was feasible, and the proposal was sent to the head office to consider.
“As soon as the fuel station is built, inmates will be deployed to work there.
Revenue from this facility will be used to develop prison and strengthen security.
In a prisoner, will get some experience running the fuel station,” the official said.
IOCL has decided to build a fuel station in a hindalga prison in Batalagavi, Gokak Sub-prison, Bailhongal Prison and Prison in Vijayapura and Dharwad.
“We have visited the site proposed for these stations, and our engineer team has conducted a survey, and we estimate the income we can produce from the station,” said Binay Kumar.
The proposed fuel dealer model will be arranged on the dealer model after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inkes with the PrIPS department.
“Because we deal with the Government Department, there will be offers for dealers.
According to our estimates, the department can obtain up to Rs 15.7 lakh per month from five fuel stations.
We estimate that the Hindalga prison income can get up to RS 3.8 lakh per Moon, “Binay Kumar added.
The prison supervisor’s head for Hindalga Krishnakumar told TII, “the proposal was still in a newborn stage, and the final decision would be taken by the head office.”
