New Delhi: England Wicketkeeper-Batsman Jos Buttler will miss the second leg of the Indian Premier League because of the birth of his second child who will come, his team Rajasthan Royals announced on Saturday.
The second leg of the T20 League, which was suspended in May due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in India and many cases in Bio-Bubble IPL, is scheduled to take place in the UAE from September 19.
“Jos Buttler won’t be part of the rest # IPL2021, because he and Louise expect the second child soon.
We hope they are fine, and can’t wait for the latest members of #alsfamily,” franchising tweeted.
Royals will also be without Star England Pacer Jofra Archer, which has been ruled out for the rest of the year due to the recurrence of stress fractures from his right elbow.
“The franchise wants Jofra Archer good health and fast recovery,” said the franchise in a statement.
Royals have signed Wicketkeeper-Batsman Glenn Phillips New Zealand, who is currently part of the Barbados Royals franchise in the Caribbean Premier League.
The 24-year-old represents Auckland in the domestic cricket of New Zealand, and made his international debut for the national team during the Bilateral T20i series against South Africa in 2017.
