IPL: Most likely for league matches, playoffs in Gujarat

Mumbai: BCCI is likely to hold an upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Maharashtra and Gujarat, said the source.
“Until now, the Board feasts the league organizers in Maharashtra, and playoffs at Ahmedabad,” said the source.
Post the office carrier meeting on Thursday, BCCI has completed his decision for the IPL stage this year in India, and moved to the UAE only if the Covid situation in Maharashtra and the country worsened.
Toi has reported on January 6 about BCCI who thinks that BCCI, in plan B, is looking at the performance of all this year’s IPL in Maharashtra itself.
The league stage from the upcoming IPL edition will be held in three places in Mumbai – Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium in Cricket Club of India, Dy Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and the Cricket Maharashtra Association Stadium in Gahunje, near Pune.
Playoffs can be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
“Yes, I believe that the IPL comes to CCI, and we will be very happy to accommodate it,” said President CCI Premental Udani to Ti.
Twenty-five percent of the crowd allows good news for cricket fans is that matches in the Luxury T20 league may not be played in empty stadiums, after all.
TOI has learned that “a few people” can be permitted in places in the league stage in Maharashtra, provided the Covid situation is still under control, and the number of low cases in Mumbai and Pune.
“If the number of positive cases is not high around the time, the state government authority tends to allow around 25% of the capacity crowd for this year’s IPL.
A top politician, who is a central figure in the current Maharashtra government, and BCCI officials have earlier this month Meeting AEEM Gupta, Secretary of the Secretary of Secretary of State and Rehabilitation, about this issue.
The idea is to replicate the ‘Model’ of the Wankhede test match last December between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, who saw the crowd allowed up to 25% of the venue capacity, according to State government guidelines in the view of the threat of the omicron variant.
“According to the guidelines, the capacity of 50% is permitted indoors, which means that the company box, and maybe a press box, can be filled up to 50% of capacity,” said a reliable source to paper this.
“Even in the current situation.
, The Maharashtra government, in line with Covid norms, wants to regulate national and international sports events during bio-strict bubbles, and all Covid protocols are maintained.
This is why the state government has permitted the ongoing AFC Asian Cup in Mumbai and Pune, an open tennis tournament in Pune and the next edition of the IPL in the same cities, “said the source.
