Raipur: A police supervisor (SP) and his wife were strongly injured in an attack by elephants in a village in the Forest Pendra Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night.
Four foresters were also injured.
Local media reports said that a female elephant circled the trunk around Gaurela-Penderrra-Marwahi SP trilok bansal and slammed it on the ground, but division forest officers Marwahi Sanjay Tripathi said the bansal pair was injured when pursued by elephants.
SP has suffered a head injury and shifted to a private hospital in Bilalaspur, about 100 km away, after a preliminary treatment at the district hospital, Tripathi said.
