Tehran: Iran announced on Sunday rearranged the restrictions of Coronavirus in major cities, because the spread of a very infectious Delta variant spurred a concern of a surge in another surge in this country.
After more than a year against the worst virus outbreak in the Middle East, Iran ordered the closure of non-essential businesses in 275 cities, including the capital of Tehran.
Shutdown of all public parks, restaurants, desserts, beauty salons, malls and bookstores are valid for “red” zones and “orange” in the country, or the ranking municipality has a high risk of Covid-19.
The government said it also imposes a ban between cities with a high level of infection.
Iran’s new restrictions were designed to slow down the deployment of the Delta variant which highly transplanted first detected in India, which on Saturday President Hassan Rouhani warned to encourage the “fifth wave” potential of infection in the country.
New case reports have risen continues in recent weeks, almost double the mid-June to the beginning of July.
This country has reported a total of 3.2 million infections and 84,627 deaths – the highest victims in the region.
Spike comes as the lags of the launch of Iran’s vaccine, with less than 2% of the 84 million population is fully vaccinated, according to our world’s online scientific publication in the data.
Iran said it had provided around 6.3 million doses so far.
These shots are mainly from abroad, including from Covax, international initiatives intended to distribute vaccines to low and medium-sized income countries.
Iran has also imported a synopharm vaccine supported by China and Vaksin Sputnik V Russia.
With a foreign vaccine still in short supply, this country has accelerated efforts to develop its own shots.
Last month, the authorities provided an authorization of emergency use to the Takkat Coviran shots produced domestically, without publishing data on the safety or efficacy.
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who previously warned against the import of American and British vaccines in the midst of distrust in the West, received homemade vaccines on state TV and encouraged people to follow him.
