Dubai: Iran said on Tuesday held talks about the exchange of prisoners with the United States which aims to secure Iran’s release held at US prisons and other countries for violations of US sanctions.
“Negotiations are underway in the exchange of detainees between Iran and America, and we will issue further information if Iran’s detainees are released and the interests of the country are guaranteed and the talks reached the conclusion,” said Government spokesman Ali Rabiei said.
“Because of its humanitarian goals, Iran is ready to exchange all American political prisoners in exchange for all Iranian prisoners who have been detained throughout the world on American orders,” he said at a press conference brought on the government website.

Iranian talks with World Powers about reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement, the United States stopped in 2018, has been suspended for three weeks.
The agreement imposed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for lifting international sanctions.
The US Department of State Department spokesman said on Monday that Washington would not impose deadlines in the seventh round, and only Tehran could determine when the conversation would continue.
The Islamic Republic, which holds a handful of Iran-Americans, has been accused by activists of the right to arrest residents of Dual residents to try to extract concessions from other countries.
Iran has refused the accusation.
