Tehran: The Iranian Atomic Agency said on Friday that its inventory of 20% enriched uranium had reached more than 210 kilograms (463 pounds), the latest provocative step in front of nuclear talks that will come with the West.
In a report carried by the Tasnim and Fars semi-official news institutions, Behrouz Kamalvandi’s spokesman said that the Atomic Agency had resulted far beyond the target of 120 kilograms for 20% enriched uranium set by parliament.
Under the 2015 historic nuclear agreement between Iran and the world’s strength, Iran was not intended to enrich uranium above 3.67 percent.
Uranium enriched above 90 percent can be used for nuclear weapons.
After months of delay, the European Union, Iran and the US announced on Wednesday that indirect talks to aware of the agreement would continue on November 29 in Vienna.
Nuclear agreement, known as a shared comprehensive action plan, or JCPOA, promised Iran’s economic incentives in exchange for boundaries in its nuclear program, and was intended to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear bombs.
Tehran stressed that his program was peaceful.
Kamalvandi also said that so far the agency has also produced 25 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium, a rate that only countries with nuclear weapons that have physical abilities to be produced.
The U.S.
With a unilaterally drawn from the nuclear agreement in 2018 under President Donald Trump, but England, France, Germany, China and Russia have tried to preserve the agreement.
Tehran’s strategy intentionally violates the agreement is seen as an attempt to put pressure, especially in Europe to provide it with incentives to compensate for paralyzed American sanctions force back after US withdrawal.
On September 15, Iran’s nuclear head Mohammad Esami said Tehran removed the UN nuclear monitoring camera because of commitment that was not fulfilled by another signatory from the nuclear agreement.
President Joe Biden and European leaders criticized Tehran last week for what he saw as an accelerated and provocative nuclear step when Iran continued to enrich uranium to a higher level.
With talks in Vienna now jammed, Iran has violated the boundaries set by the agreement and enriches a small amount of uranium to its closest level to the purity of the weapons because the inventory continues to grow.
Iran said its nuclear program was only for peaceful purposes.
