Dubai: Iran said on Tuesday his security forces had captured the agent’s network that worked for Israel and had confiscated the cache of the weapons he said was planned to be used during recent wealth triggered by water shortages in the Islamic Republic, the country’s media reported.
Iran often accuses enemies or rivals abroad, such as Israel, the United States and Saudi Arabia, trying to disrupt the country by triggering protests and violence.
The announcement on Tuesday came after almost two weeks of protest over a lack of water, mostly in Iran southwest, which had changed politics and spread to other regions.
The authorities accused armed dissidents provoking clashes during road protests.
Human rights groups say security forces have opened fire on protesters.
“Mossad operation is intended to use equipment in urban riots and murder,” said an official of the Ministry of Intelligence, according to Media State, referring to the Israeli intelligence agency.
The official did not provide details.
The confiscated weapons include a gun, grenade, attack rifle and ammunition, said officials who were not named, added: “Some of them were used to provoke clashes during protests.” There are no comments directly from Israeli officials.
