Tehran: Iranian president calls for elections in Afghanistan to determine the country’s future, where he hopes peace will return after Western troops go and the Taliban have taken control.
Speaking in State TV on Saturday, Ebrahim Relisi said that Afghans must choose to determine their own government “as soon as possible.” “The government must be set there chosen by the voice and will of the people,” he said.
“The Islamic Republic always looks for peace and calm in Afghanistan, and ends bloodshed and fratricide, and the sovereignty of the will of the people.
We support the government chosen by the people of Afghanistan,” he added.
