Tehran: The Arabs who normalize bonds with Israel last year have “sinful” and have to reverse such movements, Iran’s highest leader Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.
The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco said that in 2020 they would normalize bonds with Israel, as Washington under the government at that time US President Donald Trump made the recovery of the Arab-Israeli foreign policy.
“Some governments unfortunately made mistakes – had made a big mistake and had sinned in normalization (their relationship) with the Zionist regime that seized and oppressed,” Khamenei said, referring to Israel.
“This is an action against Islamic unity, they must return from this road and redeem this big mistake,” Khamenei added, in a speech marking a public holiday to honor the birth of the Prophet Muhamad.
Iran has been in four decades since 1979 Islamic revolution positioned itself as a strong defender of the causes of Palestine.
Egypt and Jordan until last year, only two Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel.
“If Muslim unity is reached, Palestinian questions will definitely be resolved in the best way,” Khamenei said.
In May, Khamenei characterizes Israel as a “terrorist base” and “not a country”.
