TEHERAN: Negotiations in Vienna, which aim to revive Iran’s nuclear agreement must be postponed on Friday, said the Iranian media, as European diplomats stated “disappointment and concern” in the latest proposal from Iran.
The semi-official ISNA news agency said the talks would be “most likely” resumes on Monday, but French President Emmanuel Macron warned there might be a longer rest in talks, who returned only on November 29 after a five-month break.
Iran said that it has submitted two proposals for nuclear agreements, which have been tattered since the US withdrew in 2018.
“After more submission of Iran’s proposal text for P4 + 1 group (UK, China, France and Russia plus Germany) and the European Union , a joint committee meeting of the nuclear agreement will be held on Friday, “the official Irna Irna news agency said.
“This meeting was requested by the Europeans before his representative returned to their capital to review the text proposed by Iran,” added the news agency.
Senior diplomats from E3 groups from England, France and Germany Friday stated “disappointment and concern after thoroughly and carefully analyzed Iran’s proposed change for the text negotiated for the previous six rounds”, which took place earlier this year.
And talking about a visit to the United Arab Emirates, just across the bay from Iran, the French president said “should not be excluded” that the talk round “does not reopen quickly”.
On Thursday, the negotiator led Irania Ali Bagheri said the proposal concerned of two main issues faced by 2015 accordingly known as a comprehensive plan with action, or JCPOA.
“The first number of documents to the point of the Islamic Republic of Indonesia regarding the revocation of sanctions, while the second is about Iran’s nuclear actions,” Baghereri State Television.
“Now the other side must check these documents and prepare for negotiations with Iran based on these documents.” In phone calls with the European Union Diplomat Josep Borrell, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian-said talking will be good “but slowly in all tracks”.
“We think that a good agreement is possible but it requires changes in approaches by certain parties that have to drop their language threatening and choosing to text focused on cooperation, respect and results,” Minister said.
However, in the comment of the possibility to please the bay host, but Iran’s anger, Macron said a wider skeleton might benefit the conversation on bringing Washington to return to the agreement.
“I think everyone is aware of the fact that not talking, does not try to find a new framework on both nuclear and regional issues, weakens everyone and is a factor in increasing confliction,” said the President of France.
“It is also important for dynamic reengage a little wider and involving regional strength too,” he added.
“It’s hard to reach an agreement if the Gulf countries, Israel and all those who are directly affected security are not involved.” On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett called for “Immediate Termination” from nuclear talks, accusing Iran of “nuclear extortion”.
In a telephone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Bennett is called not for “concrete steps” which will be taken against the Islamic Republic.
Talks have returned in the Austrian capital on Monday after Iran stopped them in June following the election of Ultrakonservative President Ebrahim Relision.
The purpose of JCPOA is to make it almost impossible for Iran to build an atomic bomb, while it is possible to pursue a civilian nuclear program.
Iran always denied wants nuclear weapons.
