Akshay Kumar had announced the making of ‘Rakshabandhan’ in August last year with a tweet that read, “A story that touches your heart so deeply and so instantly, it’s the quickest I’ve signed a film in my career.
Dedicating this film, #RakshaBandhan to my sister Alka and to the most special bond in the world…that of a brother and sister.”

The film in question is now ready to go on floors.
If all goes well, the shoot may start on June 21 in Mumbai.
ETimes also has it that Bhumi Pednekar has been asked to star in it.
A source says, “Bhumi has received the offer.
She has loved the role and agreed in principle.
The modalities are fast being worked out.” This will be Bhumi’s third film with Akshay, her other two being ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, and ‘Durgavati’ which was produced by the latter.
On the other hand, this is Akshay’s second collaboration with Aanand L Rai, the first being ‘Atrangi Re’, co-starring Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan.
The Himanshu Sharma-directorial was announced to be released on November 5 this year.
