Is the end of the pandemic? ‘Time to dropping fear, but not a mask’

Mumbai: It is no longer mandatory to wear facial masks in the UK, and Sweden has canceled the need for a negative Covid test to enter the country.
Closer houses, Thailand has announced quarantine free tourism from February1.
Is the end of a Covid pandemic near? Coronavirus which causes Covid has flooded experts so that only a few will reply with affirmatively, but the extraordinary consensus is that “it’s time to stop living in fear”.
Pandemics can continue for “a few more months” before turning into an endemic disease with a local outbreak for the next few years, a doctor said from Ci-Vic Hospital.
Doctor Gautam Bhansali believes cities such as Mumbai must consider Covid-19 as a seasonal flu.
“We deal with omicron waves without pressure on health infrastructure, lack of oxygen or a bed crisis.
We cannot ignore the fact that 95% of people who are testing positively do not show symptoms,” he said.
Epidemiologist Dr.
Jayaprakash Muliyil, who came under the fire to equalize Omicron with the flu, told TOI in fact still that the new variant spreads like cold and causing a mild disease.
In England, 70% of people can coolly tested positive for Omicron.
“In Washington, they saw 3,340 omicron positive cases where zero mortality.
Similarly, in California, 53,000 omicron infections were studied and neglected mortality found.
The third wave has shown that the Indian health system can also handle the burden,” Dr.
Muliyil said.
Dr.
Shashank Joshi, a member of the Maharashtra government assignment unit in Covid-19, has a different liberal policy collection.
“The policies adopted by several foreign countries only mark policy shifts (not the end of Covid),” he said.
Three factors, said Joshi, have brought this change: a new wave is relatively light, the world’s big bag is vaccinated against Covid-19, and the awareness that sustainable restrictions will harm the economy and education.
Dr.
Toraskar’s critical care specialist, who is also a member of the Maharashtra task force, said the “worst part” was over and Mumbai could lead to a better herd immunity.
However, he warned against the mask trenches and other safety precautions.
“Countries that have calmed their norms have a very small population compared to India,” he said.
Virologically Based on Vellore Dr.
T Jacob John also believes that it is too early to mention endemicity.
“Unfortunately, there is a general perception that Omicron is not a serious problem, which is a mistake.
There are hospitalizations and deaths that can be avoided, but lower than Delta,” he said, adding that this disease tends to be endemic in March or April.
“India is at the endemic stage for 25 weeks before Omicron hit.
So early to think Covid has become endemic,” he added.
However, experts say there may be subtle policy changes in India too.
For one, RT-PCR must be limited to pneumonia related to Coronavirus, Muliyil said.
“Community level testing for all has little significance now,” he said.
Joshi said it was time for “inverse insulation”, who asked people aged and vulnerable because comorbidity remained isolated.
Can there be another covid wave? The doctor doesn’t put it aside.
“But strong immunity created by Omicron, plus Delta’s exposure and vaccination must help people,” said Muliyil.v
