LONDON: A woman who lost her English citizenship after joining the Islamic State group said on Wednesday, she would be ready to face charges of terror so she could prove her innocence.
Shamima Begum aged 15 when he traveled from his house in London in 2015 with two schoolmates to Syria, where he married an ISIS fighters and had three children.
Dubbed “Isis Bride”, he stripped his British citizenship after the media right anger when he was tracked by reporters to the transfer camp in 2019 and defended the jihadists.
The Supreme Court earlier this year refused his permission on the reason for public safety to return to England to challenge the government’s decision.
But he denied involvement directly in preparation for terrorism.
“I am willing to go to court and face the people who make this claim and deny this claim because I know I did nothing in ISIS but be a mother and wife,” he said.
“These claims are made to make me look worse because the government has nothing to me.
There is no evidence because nothing has ever happened,” he told ITV.
Begum, now 22, says the only crime he has done is “being a stupid enough to join is”, and ask for forgiveness from all those who lose loved ones to extremists.
“I am very sorry if I once offended anyone by coming here, if I once offended anyone with the things I said,” Begum, wearing a baseball cap and top vest, saying from Syria.
The lawyer for Begum, whose father Bangladesh, accused the British racism in his treatment, accusing the government to make a scapegoat.
They said he was “a child who was traded and remained in Syria for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced marriage” and the government’s actions to leave their citizenship.
Bangladeshi Foreign Minister said he would not consider giving his citizenship.
About 900 people are expected to have traveled from England to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS, creating legal headaches for British authorities now conflicts are complete.
About 150 is believed to have been stripped of their citizenship.
Begum, the third child was conceived after his arrival in Syria all died, first seen in 2019 wearing a black headscarf and said he did not regret traveling to Syria.
But he has seen since it was seen in Western clothing and revealed regret for his actions, and sympathy for the victim.
