New Delhi: The country’s Premier Football Tournament, Indian Super League (ISL) is set to introduce the time of kick-off 9:30 a.m.
for a double weekend header in the upcoming 2021-22.
PTI reliably has learned that ISL, organized and promoted by Football Sports Development Limited, for the first time in a seven-year history will try kick-off weekend late at night.
“The league has informed the club about the possibility of changes to the double-header weekend began,” confirming the ISL club source.
“From the player’s point of view, at 9:30 a.m.
(Kick-off) will be a very welcomed decision because it will bring concessions from the blistering humidity,” added the source.
While the regular working day fixture will be early at 7:30 p.m., double header on weekends, which until last season was a feature at 5:30 a.m., now will move to 9:30 a.m.
“The league is likely to announce the match 2021-22 at the beginning of next week,” inform other sources while confirming changes in the double weekend header.
ISL has captured the imagination of Indian fans and the global football industry as a decent league in the country dominated by cricket.
Introduced in 2014 as a short program 11 weeks, ISL has for years of gaining major momentum in popularizing sports throughout India, bringing transformational changes in formatting and competition and producing the status of the country’s premiere soccer league.
ISL is now operating from November to March, with an increase in the number of matches to 115 involving 11 clubs.
The beginning of this parade, the league has received an award to become the first direct sporting event to begin (in the Covid era), and successfully completed a five-month long competition in bio-safe bubbles in Goa.
The league has chosen Goa to do the upcoming 2021-22 season, November 21.
The tournament will be held behind the door close to three stadiums up to 2022.
