Prasagraj: 130 of 1,033 samples were sent to mln microbiology laboratories for testing, positively tested for dengue fever.
Of the 130 cases, 87 of them came from the city of Sangam and took a break from neighboring districts such as Pratapgarh and Kaushambi.
Of the 87 cases, 60 cases came from city limits and 27 others from trans-ganga and trans-yamuna bags.
However, 73 of them had recovered.
The health authority on Sunday claimed that there were only 14 active cases and nine of them underwent hospital treatment until Saturday.
The Ministry of Health claims to have sent 40 to 50 samples to MLN Medical College Testing every day.
District Malaria Officer (DMO) Anand Kumar Singh told TOI that Ismailpur and Lig Colony (Govindpur) remained hotspots for dengue cases but were all under control now.
However, he said that mass awareness campaigns to make people aware of the diseases transmitted through vectors being carried out in various districts.
He added that people are complaining about the factors responsible for mosquito breeding and cause diseases that are transmitted through vectors.
The fact is that mosquito-transmitted diseases have taken the grip in the city because of the flood and cases of virus fever also witnessed the increase in many areas in the past few days.
DMO, however, said the department had put stress to spread awareness about dengue fever and diseases transmitted through other vectors.
The Ministry of Health has increased its supervision and emphasizes cleanliness drives for prevention of disease spread.
With unrelenting rain in the city, citizens have been advised to take part in a series of referrals as a preventative measure.
Doctors say symptoms of dengue fever include sudden high temperatures, headaches, eye pain, muscles and joint pain, rash, nausea and dryness in the mouth.
But in severe cases, it can also cause enlargement of liver, internal bleeding, blood circulation shutdown, etc.
Preventive measures are being taken in areas where more dengue cases have been reported and intensive fogging is also being carried out in affected areas.
