ISO Certificate for 17 Railroad stations

Thiruvananthapuram: all those 72 railroad channels belonging to the Southern Railway who have got ISO:14001 certificates this year are beneath its own Thiruvananthapuram branch.
Fifteen of these are in Palakkad branch.
ISO:14001 is a worldwide recognized global standard for environmental management procedures.
One of the things that got the certificates is the South Shore initiative to put in plastic jar Demo machines (PBCMs) in channels.
A detailed coverage on setup of PBCMs in channels premiered in 2019.
Included in the, 34 PBCMs are installed at 30 railroad stations.
Besides this, some PBCM has been developed in house in the Southern Railway principal marathon.
Another variable is that the automatic natural waste composting plant installed in the Thiruvananthapuram central railroad station.
Apart from this, composting pits are offered in Palakkad and composting bins in Shoranur.
Collectively that could manage 1,750kg of waste each day.
Even the Southern Railway also offers provisions to perform mechanised cleaning of trainers in about 160 of its training depots.
Machines such as high pressure jet cleaner, floor-scrubbers, dry and wet vacuum cleaners, hand-held machines, etc.

Effluent recycling plants having a complete capability of 4,320 kilo litres/day also have been set up at 10 places.
