KOLKATA: The pandemic has generated 85 percent of older citizens suffer with marginal melancholy in Kolkata with 64 percent of them asserting that Covid-19 has impacted their communicating with families, friends, acquaintances and nearest and dearest.
A poll conducted by Ipsos Research for HelpAge Indiastudy disclosed the data in their yearly report The Silent Tormentor: Covid-19 along with the Elderly — that premiered on Monday, signaling that the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day June 15.
The poll has been conducted across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai — using a sample size of 3,526 older citizens.
In Kolkata, 587 individuals have been surveyed — half of the sample size than that which the firm used to manage before.

They can not adapt to the system of telemedicine.
Most elderlies are complaining of new ailments, a few of which are proving deadly,” stated geriatrician Dhires Chowdhury.
Psychiatrist Siladitya Roy stated:”I’m seeing a variety of nervous, fearful and depressed older patients that are finding it extremely tricky to begin.
The stress is monumental.”
