Jerusalem: Israeli plane crashed into the target of Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, hours after clashes of violence between the protesters and Palestinian forces along the border.
The Israeli military said in a statement that the aircraft bombed Hamas militant facilities in the Gaza Strip in response to the launch of the Burners to South Israel and violent protests performed for the second week in a row.
Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett spoke to reporters in Washington before he boarded a flight to Israel, wrapped up a country’s visit peaking with a face-to-face meeting with President Joe Biden.
That’s the first since Bennett served in June.
“We will operate in Gaza according to our interests,” he said in Hebrew in Tarmac.
Bennett said he “achieved all the goals for the trip” to Washington, including strategic cooperation in preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons.
On Saturday, hundreds of activists supported by Hamas protested at night along the Israeli border, threw explosives to Israeli forces responding with Live APIs.
Gaza health officials said three people were injured by Israeli fire.
Additional protests are planned throughout the week.
Organizers said protests were intended to increase pressure on Israel to lift the blockade of the Palestinian region.
Israel and Egypt have maintained a blockade since Hamas, a group vowed to the destruction of Israel, seized Gaza’s control in the 2007 coup after winning the Palestinian election.
Israel and Hamas have fought four wars since then, the latest in May.
The blockade limits the movement of goods and people in and out of Gaza and have destroyed the economy of the region.
Israel has tightened the closure since the 11-day war in May, demanded the return of the remains of two soldiers and the freedom of death for two Israeli civilians who were believed to be in a prisoner of Hamas.
Egypt works to sustain a ceasefire to end the May battle and seems to make progress last week.
At least 260 Palestinians were killed during the May Hamas-Israeli war, including 67 children and 39 women, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Hamas has recognized the death of 80 militants.
Twelve civilians, including two children, were killed in Israel, along with one soldier.
