Jerusalem: Israel has begun to provide the fourth dose of vaccine for people who are most vulnerable to Coronavirus, being one of the first countries to do so because they prepare a wave of infection driven by Omicron variants.
Israel, who led the world beating vaccination program in 2020, will provide a four-vaccine dose to individuals with a weakened immune system along with the elderly population and employees at home care.
The launch of the fourth dose began at the Sheba Israeli medical center Friday morning and was given to patients with heart and lung transplantation.
This country is currently experiencing a wave of new infections driven by the transmitted omicron variants.
There were 4,085 new cases recorded on Thursday, the highest number of daily infections have been seen by Israel since the end of September.
In response, Israel introduced new restrictions on Thursday on Thursday in an effort to limit the increase in infection levels ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebration.
These include graduating green, given to individuals who are fully vaccinated or those recently recovered from Coronavirus, for outside events of more than 100 people and mandatory masks at outside events of more than 50 people.
