Tel Aviv: Israel, a world leader in Coronavirus vaccination, reported the highest daily infection rate in three months because of scrambling to contain the spread of the new Delta variant.
The authorities raced to vaccinate children and consider limiting more stringent travel at the country’s main airport.
The Ministry of Health on Thursday reported 307 new cases on Wednesday, the highest in almost three months and rose from 293 newly diagnosed cases the day before.
The Ministry of Health reportedly expected the numbers to jump in the coming days, raising fears that Israel plunged back towards the crisis.
In recent months, Israel has reopened business, school and venue, lifting almost all restrictions after being inoculated around 85% of the adult population.
Now it is seen as an early warning system for other countries.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Tuesday announced a boost to autoculate thousands of children in the middle of the month.
Even though it’s worried, the trend still shows a little uptick when it comes to death from the virus.
In the past two weeks, the Ministry only recorded one.
In Israel, 5.1 million people, among the 9.3 million population, have received the required double vaccination.
The other 400,000 have received at least one dose.
Israel recorded the number of vaccination of these highest children and had imposed regulations that required people to wear masks in the room.
Bennett for the first time appointed a Coronavirus commissioner to manage the arrival at the main gate to Israel, Ben Gurion International Airport, which he called “a large national vulnerability.” Ayelet’s interior minister expelled on Wednesday that officials were ready to close the airport if the trend deteriorated.
The Haaretz Israel newspaper reported that officials were considering returning the “Green Pass” system that distinguished between vaccinated citizens and was not vaccinated in access to certain places and activities.
The Israeli government last week postponed the repair of the state planned to vaccinated tourists than concerns about the distribution of Delta variants.
Israel was originally set to reopen its border to vaccinate visitors on Thursday, after most of the countries closed the country during a pandemic.
It has begun to allow groups of vaccinated tourists to enter in May.
But after the increase in infection for the past 10 days, the government pushed the date to August 1.
