Gaza / Tel Aviv: Israeli forces shoot and kill a Palestinian along the Gaza border on Thursday because hundreds burn tires and throw stones, the Gaza Health Ministry said.
The Israeli military said that more than 1,000 Palestinians gathered along the enriched borders, threw explosives and invaded tires.
The “IDF military (Israeli military) forces were deployed in the area using the facilities for spreading riots, including when needed to fire and round caliber .22,” the military said in a statement.
The Ministry of Health Gaza said the man who was killed had been shot in the stomach.
The other five were injured by Israeli fire, including a child who was in critical condition, he said.
Sanctions by the Islamic Ruler of Gaza Hamas, Palestine has protested every night along the border this week to voice anger in the blockade led by Israel.
Israel quoted a threat from Hamas for restrictions.
Protests added to a recent increase in cross-border violence that had tested the fragile ceasefire which ended 11 days that turned off Israel-Hamas in May.
Since the ceasefire mediated by Egypt, Palestine has sporadically sent balloons carrying burners to Israel, lighting a brush fire and drawing Israeli air strikes at the Hamas facility in Gaza.
In the first death since the Battle of May, a Palestinian boy, an Israeli soldier and a member of Hamas surrendered in their injury in the last few days after being shot in cross-border shots during the border clash on August 21.
Egypt and the United Nations have increased mediation efforts in recent weeks, helping to facilitate Qatar’s assistance to Gaza in a step that is widely seen as increasing the ceasefire May 21.
At least 250 Palestinians and 13 in Israel were killed in the May conflict, where Gaza guerrillas fired rockets against Israeli cities and Israel conducted air strikes across coastal bags.
