Tel Aviv: Israeli population has reached 9.39 million from 9.24 million over the past year, up 1.57 percent, the State Central Statistics Bureau said in the annual report published before the Jewish New Year to be celebrated from Monday night to Wednesday night.
The country’s population is estimated to reach 10 million by the end of 2024, around 15 million by the late 2048, and 20 million at the end of 2065, the Xinhua news agency quoted the report on Sunday.
Jews contributed 74 percent of the Israeli population with 6.943 million, followed by 1.982 million Arabs representing 21 percent of the population.
The remaining 466,000, who are non-Arab Christians, religious and non-religious residents, are 5 percent of the Israeli population.
During the previous Jewish calendar year, around 172,000 babies were born, while around 48,000 people died in Israel.
As many as 22,000 people immigrated to Israel, including 20,000 were Jews.
In addition, the life expectancy of the man in Israel was 80.7 years compared to women 84.8 years.
The infant mortality rate is 2.3 out of 1,000 births.
The report shows that around 45 percent of Jews in Israel are 20 years and above defines themselves as secular, 33 percent as traditional, 12 percent as religion, and 10 percent as ultra-orthodox.
It also found that the 90.3 percent of the Israelites were satisfied with their lives, while 65.8 percent were satisfied with their economic situation.
