Dubai: Israeli President Israac Herzog arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday on such a first visit, his office said, trying to strengthen the bay bond at the time of increasing regional tensions because the world’s power was trying to revive the nuclear agreement with Iran.
UAE, along with Bahrain, signed a US-broker normalization agreement with Israel, nicknamed “Abraham Accords”, in 2020.
Both Gulf and Israeli countries have concerned concerns about Iran and allied forces in the region.
On the way to the plane of President UAE Herzog flew over Saudi Arabia, which he said “really a very moving moment”.
Riyadh and Israel did not have a diplomatic bond, but Israel said it wanted to establish relationships with the kingdom which was home to the two most holy Islamic sites.
The presidency in Israel is mostly ceremonial posts.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett visited the UAE in December.
The President was welcomed on arrival in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan.
“I will meet with the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, at the Personal Invitation Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince,” Herzog said before.
“I hope he is fine and I thank you for his courage and a brave leadership, carving a peaceful agreement with Israel and sending messages to all regions that peace is the only alternative to the nations of the region.” President Herzog will also meet the Jewish community in the UAE, which is a commercial center and tourism in the region.
Israel on January 18 offers security and intelligence support to the UAE against further drone attacks after the deadly strike by the Houthi Group which is in line with Iran Yemen, according to a letter released on Tuesday by Israeli leaders.
