ISRO Entering Telemetry X-Band & Command Regime with New 18m Antenna

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has assigned a new 18M antenna, which for the first time, allows space agency to carry out telemetry operations and commands on the band X which is much faster (frequency).
So far, ISRO only uses x bands to download payload data and use s ribbons for telemetry and commands.
Compared to the band, which operates with 2GHz to the 4GHz function, x band at 8GHz to 10GHz.
The source in Isro, reinstalling this main milestone, saying this has two advantages: “First, this increases the command speed and the second, reduces the possibility of disorder given that the band s is now also used by telecommunications companies for 5G.” Antennas developed from funds intended for Aditya-L1 – India’s first solar mission which is expected to be launched at the end of 2022 – and will be used for other space missions in the future as well as from available to international customers.
“Antennas and traditional stations are able to transmissions and receive operations on B & X bands.
Equipped with automatic tracking features in both ribbons and remotely can be operated from the ISRO network, tracking, and network command (IstraC) Control Center CCSD (Consultative Committee for the Space Data System) which is appropriate to facilitate interoperability and cross support among various space institutions, “said a senior scientist to Ti.
Other scientists say that with international institutions such as NASA have migrated to x bands for telemetry operations and orders, ISRO cannot offer services so far.
With the commissioning new antenna, the space agency will be able to attract more collaboration.
Confirming the development, chairman of Isro K Sivan, said: “Developed by Ecil (Electronics Corporation of India Limited) with several key systems originating from Barc (Bhabha Atomic Research Center), antenna has been assigned to Balalu.
This marks a new era because we can do it Telemetry operations in the new band, and it will also provide an opportunity for NSIL to commercialize it in the future.
“Sivan said that the demand for the antenna arrived from Aditya-L1 and was assigned as part of the preparation for the mission.
“But other inside and satellite space missions can also use it in the future,” he said.
Aditya-l1.
Whether the Solar Observatory Based on Indian India’s dedicated space and will be around the Bumi-Sun Lagrange Point L1.
“With the inclusion of multiple charge, this project also provides an opportunity for solar scientists from various institutions throughout the country to participate in space in instrumentation and based observations.
Thus, the enhanced Aditya-L1 project will allow a comprehensive understanding of the sun’s dynamic process and overcome Some extraordinary problems in sun physics, “according to Isro.
