When Ramkumar Ramanathan took a chartered flight in Dubai at the end of last month, the original goal was Melbourne where he competed in Australia’s open qualifications.
Instead, he took a detour to Adelaide to fill as a stop-gap partner for his compatriot Rohan Bopanna, and turned out to be a wise decision.
Playing together for the first time on the ATP tour, Bopanna and Ramkumar Ramanathan finally became the first winner of the 2022 season with the men’s doubles title in Adelaide International on Sunday.

The combination of beat Marcelo Melo Brazil and Ivan Dodig from Croatia 7-6 (6), 6-1 in one hour and 22 minutes in the hard worker final.
This is the first Ramkumar title about the ATP tour – he has reached a single final in Newport in 2017.
