‘It is unfortunate’: Chairman of Justice n V Ramana upset with a report about the Supreme Court College on the Judge

New Delhi: Chairman of India Judge N V Ramana said the report of speculative media about the Collegium meeting regarding the appointment of the judge at the Supreme Court as ‘very unfortunate’.
“I am very upset and hope all stakeholders to enforce the integrity and dignity of this institution,” Cji said.
Cji Ramana, speaking in a ceremonial function to say goodbye to justice Navin Sinha who retired, said the process of appointment of judges was sacred and had dignity attached to it and the media had to understand and recognize the sanctity.
“On this occasion I want to take the freedom to express my concern about speculation and certain reports in the media.
You all realize we need to appoint the judge for this court.
The process is ongoing.
The meeting will be taken and the decision will be taken.
The process of appointment of judges is sacred and has dignity certain attached to it.
My media friends must understand and recognize the sanctity of this process, “he said.
CJI said that as an institution, the APEX court held the freedom of media and individual rights at high prices and today’s reflection in several parts of the media, while waiting for the process, even before formalizing the resolution in a counter.
“There are examples of proper career development from bright talents to be damaged due to irresponsible reporting and speculation.
This is very unfortunate and I am very upset about it,” he said.
CJI also praises “the amount of maturity and extraordinary responsibility” which is displayed by the majority of senior journalists and media houses in showing restraints and do not speculate on serious problems.
“Professional journalists and such ethical media are the real strength of the Supreme Court at the time and democracy in general.
You are part of our system.
I hope all stakeholders to uphold the integrity and dignity of this institution,” he said.
