Rome: Italy’s top priority in the Pandemic Phase Covid-19 is to keep the school open, Prime Minister Mario Draghi said, while maintaining a decision to make a mandatory vaccine for people aged 50 years and over.
Increasing distant learning practices will be possible in the following weeks because of the omicron variant, but “the widespread use of distance learning” must be avoided, Draghi said at a press conference along with the Minister of Health and Education.
Safe! You have succeeded in throwing your votelogin to see the results of the current anti-pandemic rules, the classroom must be entered fully in short learning mode when a number of positive pupil tests, Xinhua News Service reported.
“It doesn’t make sense to close schools while letting other activities open, and we currently have no reason to impose general closure,” he explained.
He emphasized that young people have been greatly influenced by the closure called schools and universities since the emergence of pandemics in the country.
Education Minister Patrizio Bianchi said about 6 percent of teaching staff and 4.5 percent of students missed the reopening of school because they were tested positive for Covid-19.
Draghi’s decision to explain the latest restriction package at a press conference comes in the midst of tension between the center and regional authorities about whether to let schools reopen after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Another friction point is the decision to make a mandatory vaccine for people aged 50 years and over.
Italy are among several countries in Europe to do so, and the move is controversial because vaccination is only mandatory for the specific work category in this country.
Draghi said the rules were introduced “on the basis of fresh pandemic data,” which showed a surge in Covid-19 infection but fewer severity in new cases.
The current pressure on the national health system, he shows, most must be considered from people who are not vaccinated.
People who are not vaccinated today make around two-thirds of all Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit, said Health Minister Roberto Speranza.
According to official data, more than 86 percent of the population over the age of 12 has fully immunized, and 59 percent have also received booster shots.
The latest rules make Harshher’s daily life for anti-vax people, which are prohibited from entering restaurants, bars, public offices and accessing public transportation.
On Monday, Italy registered more than 101,000 new cases against the previous day.
